This feature documentary investigates the "Citizen Isolation Centers", the secret World War II prisons within the Japanese American Incarceration camp system created in 1943 to separate those citizens deemed to be "troublemakers", from the other prisons of Japanese descent. These secret prisons have been called "precursors to Guantanamo". "A Bitter Legacy" illustrates why civic education and engagement, and social and political activism are so necessary to ensure that these acts of injustice are never repeated in today's American society.
